D-Link launches in the UK its DIR-857 dual-band HD Media Router 3000 with a data transfer rate of up to 900Mbps. The router supports 802.11b/g/n wireless standard. With dual-band support, users can run two wireless networks simultaneously, one on 2.4Ghz for day-to-day activities such as web-surfing and checking email, another on 5Ghz for media streaming, gaming and downloading. Each network can transfer up to 450Mbps, offering a total of 900Mbps wireless performance.
As a member of D-Link’s Amplifi family, the DIR-857 features HD Fuel that will automatically manage traffic flow, prioritize your bandwidth for stable and maximized performance. The router had four Gigabit Ethernet LAN ports for connecting Ethernet-enabled devices. It also has SD card slot for users to share files stored on SD memory card across the network easily and quickly; and a USB 3.0 port withe SharePort support for sharing printer and USB storage devices. Using the company’s SharePort Mobile applications, you can even access files on connected USB device wireless from smartphone or tablet.
D-Link’s DIR-857 supports WPA and WPA2 security and WiFi Protected Setup (WPS). It is available in the UK for GBP178 and is also available in the US for $179.99.
