Pentax introduces the K-30, its new weather- and dust-proof digital SLR camera which is ideal for photographers with active outdoor lifestyles. The K-30 is compact and lightweight and comes with a weather, dust and cold resistant body featuring 81 seals set. According to Pentax, the camera is able to operate in sub-freezing temperatures as low as 14°F (-10°C).
The K-30 sports a 16 Megapixel APS-C CMOS image sensor, the PRIME M image processing engine that not only offers image processing power but is also optimized for Full HD video capture and delivers low chromatic noise. The camera is equipped with the new SAFOX IXi+ Autofocus (AF) engine to provide responsive, high-precision autofocus operation by incorporating a diffraction lens to minimize chromatic aberration in accordance to the characteristics of each individual lens. Also, its low profile glass pentaprism viewfinder offers a 100% field of view and approximately 0.92X maximum magnification. Other features include sensor-shift Shake and Dust Reduction technology, 77 segment metering system, in-camera HDR shooting modes and ISO up to 25600. The Custom Image function provides 11 custom settings for users to personalize a photo.
The Pentax K-30 features high-speed shutter unit with a top speed of 1/6000 second, and supports 6fps high speed continuous shooting. It comes with dual electronic dials for quick, fingertip access to exposure control and several Auto Picture and scene modes, and a 3-inch large LCD display. It supports Full HD 1920×1080 video recording with h.264 compression.
The K-30 is compatible with all K-mount lenses. It will be available in July in Crystal White and Crystal Blue with glossy finish, and black. The price is $839.95 for body, and $899.95 for the kit including the DA L 18-55mm zoom lens.
