Sony launches the Handycam HDR-CX260V and Handycam HDR-XR260V Full HD digital camcorders that sit between the company’s new entry-level CX190/CX200/CX210, and mid-range CX580V. Both models support Full HD 1920×1080 video recording, and are capable of shooting 8.9 Megapixel still images. The former comes with 16GB flash memory that is enough for 5 hours of 1080p footage, while the latter gets a 160GB hard drive for up to 63 hours of HD recording.
The CX260V and XR260V sport 2.2 Megapixel back-illuminated Exmor R CMOS sensor with ClearVid array color filter system, BIONZ image processor, a 30x optical zoom lens with 29.8mm wide angle. With Extended Zoom technology, zoom range of both camcorders are extended to 55x. They are equipped with built-in GPS receiver and NAVTEQ maps for geotagging images and videos and locating yourself. You can find Optical SteadyShot iamge stabilization with Active Mode, Intelligent Auto for optimized scene mode, Tracking Focus, Golf Shot, and wind noise reduction for clear voice recording. The Highlight Playback feature can identifies and compiles key scenes into a short, entertaining movie complete with music and transitions.
Both Handycam camcorders come with 3-inch Clear Photo touchscreen display, and provide HDMI output. The XR260V adds 5.1-channel mic for Dolby Digital 5.1 channel recording, and Clear Phase stereo speakers with S-Master digital amplifier to deliver true-to-life sound. With built-in USB cable, file transfer and charging are easy and quick. You can even Direct Copy videos and images to external hard drive without a PC.
