Panasonic launches two new 10x optical zoom ultra slim digital cameras, the LUMIX DMC-SZ7 and LUMIX DMC-SZ1. Both of them pack a 25mm wide angle LEICA DC VARIO-ELMAR lens with 10x zoom in a slim, compact body. The SZ7 features a 14.1 Megapixel MOS sensor and is capable of 1920×1080/60i video, while the 16.1 Megapixel SZ1 supports 720p video recording. Each of them has a 3-inch Intelligent LCD display that automatically adjusts the backlight based on the environment’s lighting.
The new LUMIX SZ7 and SZ1 includes two new shooting modes – Miniature Effect that defocuses peripherals, and Panorama Shot for taking horizontal or vertical panoramic images easily. They also feature Creative Retouch which includes six filters -Toy Effect, Soft Focus Dynamic Monochrome, Expressive, High Key and Retro; and the Auto Retouch function that adjusts contrast and brightness of photos with a single press of the button.
While the both SZ7 and SZ1 have the iA (Intelligent Auto) mode that includes Intelligent Scene Selector, Intelligent Exposure, AF Tracking, Intelligent ISO Control, MEGA O.I.S; each of them includes unique features. The SZ7 gets High Dynamic Range, Intelligent Handheld Nightshot, Motion Deblur and Face Recognition, and the SZ1 features Face Detection. Both cameras have dedicated video record button and includes Dolby Digital Stereo Creator for high-quality stereo sound recording. They support USB charging and the SZ7 adds mini HDMI output.
The Panasonic LUMIX DMC-SZ7 is available in black for $199.99, while the LUMIX SZ1 comes in black, silver, red, blue for $179.99.
