Samsung introduces the world’s thinnest external optical drive, the SE-218BB external DVD burner. Measuring just 14mm thick, the SE-218BB is 18% thinner than conventional DVD writers. Designed for today’s mobile lifestyle and use with Ultrabooks and tablets, the drive is also lightweight. The slim DVD burner writes DVD+/-R at 8x, DVD+RW at 8x, DVD-RW at 6x, DVD+/-R Dual Layer at 6x, DVD-RAM at 5x as well as CD-R/RW at 24x.
The sleek Samsung SE-218BB connects through its single USB port for power and AV connectivity to PCs and notebook computers, thanks to Smart Power technology. It includes Buffer Under Run technology to prevent errors result from writing speeds that can exceed data transfer speeds. The external DVD burner works with all major OS including Windows and Mac OS X. For tablets running Android 3.1 or above and with USB port, users can use the portable SE-218BB to watch DVD content on-the-go.
