Along with the COOLSHOT, Nikon also introduces the PROSTAFF 5 laser rangefinder. Not only looks like the COOLSHOT, the PROSTAFF 5 also offers similar features. The palm-sized device has a compact, lightweight and ergonomic design. Like the COOLSHOT, it has a measurement range of 10 – 550 m (11 – 600 yd.) with 0.1-m/yd. distance display step. It is equipped with a 6x monocular lens with multilayer coating and a large ocular lens.
While the COOLSHOT gets First Target Priority Mode that allows easy measurement of the distance to a flagstick on the golf course, the PROSTAFF 5 Laser Rangefinder features the Distant Target Priority Mode that displays the range to the farthest target among multiple results obtained with a single measurement—useful in wooded areas. Other features include 7.5-degree wide field of view, diopter adjustment functino, LED illumincation for easy viewing of the display in dark conditions, and longer eye relief design for easy viewing of eyeglass wearers. It is waterproof to 1 meter for 10 minutes.
