AT&T launched Samsung’s Rugby Smart, a rugged smartphone with support for HSPA+ 4G mobile network. The handset meets the MIL-STD 810F military spec standards, which is IP67 waterproof down to 1 meter for 30 minutes, dustproof and can withstand extreme temperatures.
The Rugby Smart is powered by a 1.4GHz single-core Qualcomm SnapDragon S2 processor. It features a 3.7-inch WVGA Super AMOLED touchscreen display, a 5 Megapixel main camera with 720p HD video recording, flash and auto focus, a 1.3 Megapixel front camera for video chat, as well as GPS, Bluetooth and WiFi connectivity. If 4GB internal memory is not enough, the rugged handset supports microSD/SDHC up to 32GB.
Samsung Rugby Smart runs Android 2.3 OS. Its 1650mAh battery offers up to 8 hours of talk time and up to 16 days of standby. The phone is available for $99 with a 2-year contract.
