Pentax has just announced in the US its all-new Optio VS20, a long zoom digital camera with a vertical shutter-release button. As the first point-and-shooter digicam to get the a second vertical shutter-release button, its second shutter button comes with zoom lever for effortless portrait oriented shooting. The VS20 is equipped with a 16 Megapixel CCD image sensor, a high-power 20X optical zoom lens and a 3-inch large LCD display.
The Optio VS20 features mechanical sensor shift Shake Reduction for stabilized, blur-free images even in low lighting; Auto Picture mode that choose best camera settings automatically; 3-point autofocus with 1 cm super macro; 13 scene modes and Handheld Night Snap function; Face Recognition with Face Recall function that prioritizes a pre-registered face when optimizing focus and exposure settings; and Digital Panorama mode. In addition to the sensor-shift Shake Reduction (SR) mechanism, the slim long-zoom camera also includes Digital SR mode and Movie SR mode for clear, blur-free images, and the Digital Level function that ensures that shots are properly level to the horizon.
Pentax’s VS20 records 1280×720 HD movies and comes with a dedicated movie recording button. Coming in February 2012, the Optio V20 will be available for $249.95 in noble black or brilliant white.
