Sony announced at the CES its new Walkman Z1000 series Mobile Entertainment Players running Android OS. As Sony’s first MP3 player/PMP with Android 2.3 Gingerbread, the Walkman Z player is powered by NVIDIA Tegra 2 dual-core processor and 512MB of RAM. It has an anti-reflective 4.3-inch capacitive touchscreen LCD display.
Sony’s new Walkman Z1000 features integrated S-Master MX digital amplifier to reduce noise levels and distortion along with additional audio technologies to create an enriched music experience, and SenseMe that keeps music in tune with user’s mood by automatically categorizing music tracks into different channels. It is equipped with integrated xLoud compact speakers, and comes with a W.button that allows users to launch the music player application with a single touch for full playback control and browsing music library. The Android-based Walkman player supports Bluetooth and WiFi connectivity as well as DLNA for wireless media streaming. Other than enjoying music, users can also use the device to surf the internet, check email and enjoy digital content, thanks to Android operating system. It also provides micro HDMI video output for enjoyment of videos, games and photos on bigger screen.
Coming in Spring 2012, Sony’s Walkman Z1000 Android mobile media player will be available in 8GB (NWZ-Z1040), 16GB (NWZ-Z1050) and 32GB (NWZ-Z1060) for $249.99, $279.99 and $329.99, respectively.
