B&O PLAY, a new brand by Bang & Olufsen focused on more playful and portable products, introduces its first product, the Beolit 12 portable music system. Designed by Danish designer, Cecilie Manz, the Beolit 12 has a compact form and is wrapped with solid aluminum loudspeaker grille, making the loudspeaker fabric visible behind the grille to allow for different discrete color options. There is an Italian full-grain leather carrying strap diagonally mounted for stability when the unit is carried.

The Beolit 12 2.1 stereo system is equipped with class D digital amplifier with a total of 120 watts to drive two 2-inch tweeter and a 4-inch woofer. It supports Apple’s AirPlay for playing music wirelessly from AirPlay-enabled iPhone, iPod and iPad. It also has a USB connector for connecting iOS devices directly. a line-in jack for other audio sources and Ethernet LAN port for network connectivity. The Beolit comes with built-in rechargeable battery that is enough for up to 8 hours of wired playtime and 4 hours of AirPlay playback. It has illuminated controls.

The B&O PLAY Beolit 12 will be available in late January 2012 in dark grey. Yellow, Blue and Light gray version will be released this Spring 2012. The price is $799 or Euro 699.
