Samsung Techwin announced its new SmartCam WiFi IP camera designed to offer real-time video and audio monitoring from any Internet-connected smartphone, computer or mobile devices. The SmartCam simplifies the setup process with the WPS support so the camera will be connected to your home network in less than 30 seconds (of course, your wireless router needs WPS support as well).
With a sleek and slim design, the SmartCam can be placed anywhere and it comes with a swiveling bracket which will allow it to be mounted to a wall and adjusted to ensure the user gets the shot required. It supports 640×480 video recording at 30fps in H.264 format and is able to record events in the dark through the use of non-visible infrared LEDs (up to 15 feet). The wireless IP camera features built-in microphone and speaker and is capable of two way talk. It can be configured to automatically record video (640×480 / 30fps / H.264) when motion or sound is detected, and that footage will automatically be uploaded to a secure YouTube account and users will be notified of the event via real-time push notification.
Coming in March, the Samsung SmartCam WiFi IP camera will be available for $149. The device is on show at the CES 2012.
