Hitachi announced its Ultrastar SSD400M SSD that, according to the company, is the most advanced Enterprise MLC SSD in the industry. Hitachi’s new SSD is based on Intel’s 23nm highest endurance Enterprise-grade, MLC NAND Flash to deliver outstanding performance. The 2.5-inch SSD uses 6Gb SAS interface and is available in 200GB and 400GB capacities.
The Ultrastar SSD400M provides sequential throughput of up to 495MB/s read and 385MB/s write and up to 56,000 read and 24,000 sustained write IOPS performance. It offers outstanding write endurance with 7.3 petabytes (PB) lifetime random writes, or 10 full drive writes per day for five years, which satisfies the endurance requirements of most Enterprise applications.
Hitachi’s Ultrastar SSD400M has already been shipped. The company will also release Ultrastar SSD400M self-encrypting models, which conform to the Trusted Computing Group’s Enterprise A Security Subsystem Class encryption specification.
