Garmin announced its first touchscreen GPS watch, the Forerunner 610. As Garmin’s new flagship model, the new GPS sports watch comes with a sleek stylish design and a touchscreen display with 128×128 resolution. It can stand up to rain, sweat and splashes, and is responsive enough that it can be operated with running gloves.

The Forerunner 610 uses a vibration motor for alerts such as heart rate, pace and distance when audible tones cannot be heard and is able to provide accurate GPS position and calories. The watch includes the new Virtual Racer traning toll that can turn any workout into a virtual match, allowing users to race their previous bests or challenge any activities uploaded to Garmin Connect site. It also features the Training Effect capability from Firstbeat, which measures the impact of an activity on your aerobic fitness, that essentially helps you train more efficiently.

Garmin’s Forerunner 610 supports ANT+ wireless technology and works with the included USB stick for wireless upload of training data. The price is $349.99 for Forerunner 610 or you can get the $399.99 bundle that includes a heart rate monitor.
