Other than the touchscreen model ELPH 500 HS, Canon adds another two models to its PowerShot ELPH range, the ELPH 300 HS (known as IXUS 220 HS in Europe and as IXY 410F in Japan) and the ELPH 100 HS (known as IXUS 115 HS in Europe and as IXY 210F in Japan). They both are equipped with 12.1 Megapixel high-sensitivity CMOS sensor and DIGIC 4 image processor with HS SYSTEM that enhances image quality in low-light situations.
The PowerShot ELPH 300 HS sports a 24mm wide angle 5x optical zoom lens and a 2.7-inch LCD screen while the ELPH 100 HS gets a 28mm wide angle lens with 4x optical zoom, and a 3-inch LCD display. Both of them have Optical Image Stabilizer as well. Canon’s new ELPH cameras support Full HD 1080p video recording and offer HDMI output.
Other features and functions include Face Detection, Smart AUTO, Movie Digest mode that records a short video clip right before shooting a still image and then combines one day’s worth of clips into one video, 8fps high-speed shooting, Super Slow Motion movie reocrding and Dynamic IS for video shooting.
Canon PowerShot ELPH 300 HS comes in red, black and silver for $249.99 while the PowerShot ELPH 100 HS in blue, gray, pink, silver, and orange for $199.99. They will be released in mid-March.
