Sprint is going to release the Kyocera Sanyo Taho rugged mobile phone that can withstand some of the harshest elements and 30 minutes of full immersion in water up to one meter (3.28 feet) deep. The Taho is Sprint’s first fully submersible device available for less than $100. It meets military standard 810G, which means means it can stand up to dust, shock, vibration, extreme temperatures, blowing rain and water immersion.
Sanyo Taho features a 2-inch QVGA internal display, a 1-inch monochrome external display, a 2 Megapixel camera with flash and camcorder, 256MB internal memory and support for autonomous GPS. It has also a microSD/SDHC card slot for up to 32GB memory card. The Taho has a rugged exterior covered in a non-slip Dura-Grip texture to ensure a solid grip. It is available at Sprint for $99.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate with a 2-year contract.
