While Microsoft has released its new Windows Phone 7 OS, the legendary Windows Mobile 6.x is still popular on industrial handheld devices, including Trimble’s latest Nomad 900 series outdoor rugged handheld computers. The new Nomad 900 series meets MIL-STD-810F standard for drops, vibration and temperature extremes and comes with an IP67 rating.
Trimble’s new Nomad 900 Series is powered by 806 MHz XScale processor and 128 MB SDRAM. It has a 5 Megapixel auto focus camera with flash, integrated GPS, up to 6GB internal memory as well as CF and SD card slot for adding external memory or add-on module. It comes with a 5200 mAh rechargeable lithium ion battery.
Trimble will also release the Nomad 900G series with 6GB flash memorya nd enhanced GPS receiver that allow GPS data to be postprocessed to an accuracy of 1 to 3 meters. The 900G is compatible with the entire portfolio of Trimble Mapping & GIS field and office software products.
