Sony Optiarc introduces the new BDX-S500U slim external Blu-ray burner that includes support for 3D Blu-ray. The drive writes BD-R SL at 6x, BD-R DL at 4x, BD-RE at 2x as well as DVD+/-R/RW at up to 8x, DVD-RAM at 5x and CD-R/RW at 24x.
The tray-loading Sony BDX-S500U uses USB 2.0 interface and has 4.5MB cache memory. It supports buffer under run error prevention.
