DeLorme showcased two new PN-series GPS receivers, the Earthmate PN-60w and the Earthmate PN-60, at the Outdoor Retailer Summer Market trade show. These two devices share many of the features except the PN-60w comes with SPOT Satellite Communicator, making it the fist handheld GPS with Type and Send outbound text satellite messaging.
Both devices include GPX file support for flexibility in managing and saving waypoint, geocache, and track files; an elevation profile tool that pinpoints user location; new power management, and 3.5GB internal memory for storing maps and aerial imagery. The PN-60w and PN-60 are equipped with 32-channel GPS chipset, a color display, dual-core processor and are pre-loaded with DeLorme Topo North America GPS maps. They are ruggedized, waterproof (IPX-7), WAAS-enabled.
Thanks to the SPOT Satellite Communicator, PN-60w can send text messages to recipients’ cell phones and email addresses, and to social networking sites like Facebook, Twitter..etc, even it is beyond cellphone range.
