Adaptec announced three new MaxIQ Q series storage controllers, 2405Q, 5805Q and 5805ZQ, all with SSD caching. These MaxIQ controllers feature 12.GHz processing power, 512MB of DDR2 write cache, MaxIQ Hybrid SSD read caching with support for multiple MLC and SLC SSD devices, and direct I/O connectivity for SATA/SAS SSDs, hard drives, and tape devices.
The 2405Q ($645) comes with four internal ports while the 5805Q ($1215) and 5805ZQ ($1485) both have 8 internal ports. The 5805ZQ includes also Zero-Maintenance Cache Protection for battery-free data protection.
Also announced is the Adaptec MaxIQ 64GB Cache Performance Kit, designed for Adaptec Series 5Z, Series 5 or Series 2 Storage Controller, that includes a 64GB Intel X25-E Extreme SATA SSD and MaxIQ SSD caching software. The kit is priced at $1795.
