Imation announced its LTO (Linear Tape-Open) Ultrium Generation 5 magnetic tape cartridges with 1TB and 3GB of compress storage capacity and a data transfer rates of up to 280 MB/second compressed. The Ultrium LTO 5 offers drive level hardware-based writing of encrypted data to the tape cartridge and WORM (Write-Once, Read-Many) functionality.
