Buffalo announced in Japan its new 12x Blu-ray Disc writer, the BR-H1216FBS-BK, which is basically the internal version of the company’s BR-X1216U3 USB 3.0 writer . Based on LG-Hitachi burner, the BR-H1216FBS-BK has 4MB of buffer memory and uses SATA interface.
The BR-H1216FBS-BK writes BD-R and BD-R DL at up to 12X, BD-RE and BD-RE DL at 2x, DVD+/-R at 16x, DVD+/-R DL at 8x, DVD-RW at 6x, DVD+RW at 8x, DVD-RAM at 12x and CD-R/RW at up to 48x. The burner is compatible with BD-Live and supports AVCHD/AVCREC video playback.It is priced at 28,500 Yen.
Other 12x Blu-ray burners include OWC’s Mercury Pro, Plextor PX-B940SA and Pioneer BDR-S05J/BDR-205.
