Audio-Technica announced its new ATH-ANC1 compact on-ear headphones with the QuietPoint active noise-canceling technology, which block out up to 85% of outside noise. The ATH-ANC1’s active noise-canceling circuitry is located in an external module attached to its connecting cord, for lightweight on-ear wear.
Like ATH-ANC7b, another QuietPoint headphones, the ATH-ANC1 detects environmental noise using miniature built-in microphones, and applies a corresponding sound-canceling signal. It works even without batteries or when the noise-canceling feature is turned off. The ATH-ANC1 includes long wearing ear pads and comes with a 1.6-foot extension cord, an airline adapter. Also the headphones fold for easy storage and travel in the included carrying pouch.
Audio-Technica ATH-ANC1 will be available in January 2009 for $129.95.
