HP announced two new afforable notebooks, the ProBook 6445b and the ProBook 6545b, both based on AMD processor. The two new ProBook b-series notebooks are powered by a choice of AMD processors, including Turion II 2.4GHz, Turion II 2.3GHz, Athlon II 2.1GHz and Sempron 2GHz, and an ATI Mobility Radeon HD4200 graphics.
The ProBook b-series can be equipped with up to 8GB of DDR2 memory and up to 500GB hard drive or 128GB SSD. They get a DVD SuperMulti burner or an optional Blu-ray/DVD burner combo drive as well.
ProBook 6445b and 6545b has a 14-inch and 15.6-inch LED-backlit LCD display respectively. Other features include WiFi, Bluetooth 2.1, ExpressCard/54 slot, multi-in-one card slot, 2 Megapixel webcam, Displayport and four USB 2.0 ports. HP un2420 EVDO/HSPA mobile broadband module is available as an option.
To be released on 22 October, the HP ProBook 6445b and ProBook 6545b start at $799. They can be pre-loaded with Windows 7.
