Canon just announced the VB-C500D, the first fixed mini dome network camera powered by DIGIC NET image processor. The is a network camera offers high-quality capturing and allows remote monitoring over IP.
Canon’s VB-C500D has a progressive-scan CCD and a 82-degree wide angle Canon lens with 2.4x optical zoom. It offers 4x digital zoom. The DIGIC NET image processor features Smart Shade Control (SSC) and Auto/Day Night image enhancement functions and enables the VB-C500D to perform simultaneous Motion-JPEG (M-JPEG) and MPEG-4 video encoding and transmission in high-quality VGA (640 x 480) resolution at a full 30 frames per second.
Canon’s network camera supports up to 30 simultaneous users to access and view video images at the same time. It allows web monitoring, thanks to the built-in Web Viewer. Other features include Color Night Mode as low as 0.2 lux, Motion Detection, Audio Input/Output, a Recording Stream Function and support for IEEE 802.3af standard for Power over Ethernet (PoE) technology.
Canon VB-C500D fixed mini dome network camera will be available in May 2009 for about $899.
