Canon is going to launch its new PowerShot SD970 IS and SD960 IS digital ELPH cameras. These two new cameras have 12.1 Megapixel CCD image sensor, optical image stabilization, DIGIC4 image processor, face detection, Smart Auto, and blink detection.
The PowerShot SD970 IS has a 5x optical zoom lens and a 3-inch PureColor LCD II high resolution display while the PowerShot SD960 IS comes with a 4x optical zoom lens with 28mm wide angle and a 2.8-inch PureColor LCD II widescreen display.
Both cameras can record 1280x720p HD movie at 30fps and have HDMI connector. The SD970 IS offers also Zoom Blur that allows the user to zoom during exposure, thus providing a haze-like effect to the image and Creative Light Effect that allows the user to shoot pictures by converting the light from light bulbs and sparks from fireworks into various shapes, such as stars and hearts.
Canon PowerShot SD970 IS will be released in April for $379.99 while the Canon PowerShot SD960 IS will come in blue, silver, pink, and gold in March 2009 for $329.99.
