Sony launches in the US its BRAVIA XEL1, the world’s first OLED TV that is only 3mm thick. The 11-inch XEL-1 features 960×540 resolution, 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio, 16:9 aspect ratio and support for Dolby Digital (AC3 for ATSC).
Thanks to the Light-emitting OLED technology that eliminates the need for a backlight and achieves a high level of energy efficiency, the Sony’s XEL-1 TV consumes up to 40 percent less power than conventional 20-inch LCD panels.
The XEL-1 OLED TV has two HDMI inputs, a RF Connection Input and a Memory Stick PRO card slot. It offers 2x1W audio output power. Sony XEL-1 OLED TV is priced at $2,499.99 and is available now.
Sony also launches the OLED TV in the UK, model XEL1BU, that is priced at GBP 3,489.00.
