Sony introduces the new HVR-HD1000U entry-level shoulder-mount professional HDV camcorder targeted toward wedding videographers, freelancers and educational video creators. The model supports both HDV and standard definition DV formats.
The HD1000U sports a Sony 1/2.9-inch ClearVid CMOS sensor and a high-end Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonner T* 10x optical zoom lens. It can capture up to 6.1 Megapixel still images in Photo Mode, and is able to capture 4.6 Megapixel stills while HD video recording. Its “Smooth Slow Rec” function allows users to perform slow-motion playback by capturing images at four times faster than the normal field rate (240 fields/s), while the Super NightShot function utilizes a built-in infrared light emitter to record objects in zero lux light levels and to allow night-time monitoring and surveillance.
The camcorder has an electronic viewfinder and a 180-degree tilting LCD display. It will be released in the US in December with a price lower than $1900, and in Japan as HVR-HD1000J.
