Canon officially announced the EOS 40D mid-range digital SLR camera, successor to the 20D and 30D. The DSLR features Canon’s new 10.1 Megapixel APS-C CMOS image sensor for improved image quality, and a DIGIC III image processing engine for high-speed performance.
The 40D features a nine-point wide area AF coverage and pack a 35-zoom metering sensor. It has a ISO range from 100 to 1600 in 1/3 stop increment and there is also a 3200 ISO setting. The Integrated Sensor Cleaning system will keep the sensor dust-free.
The camera comes with a 3-inch LCD display and supports enhanced Live View with 100% field view. It supports CD Type I and II for storage. Coming in September, the 40D is available as body-only fr $1299 or as a kit with EF 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM zoom len for $1,499.00.
