Sharp announced the VR-100BR1 100GB triple-layer Blu-ray Disc media that conforms to the new BDXL multi-layer recordable Blu-ray Disc format. Designed for video recording, Sharp new 100GB BDXL is enough for about 12 hours of terrestrial digital TV broadcasts or approximately 8.6 hours of BS digital TV broadcasts
Following the 100GB BDXL, Sharp is also planning quad-layer 128GB BDXL. The Sharp VR-100BR1 BDXL will be released on 30 July and Sharp will also introduce the AQUOS BD-HDW700 and BD-HDW70 Blu-ray recorders that are compatible with the new format.
