Along with the prosumer-level VIXIA HF G30, Canon also brings two new ultra-compact and lightweight professional camcorders, the XA25 and XA20 ideal for run-and-gun style videography or electronic newsgathering (ENG). Like the G30, they supports simultaneous Full HD 1080p video recording in AVCHD Progressive (28Mbps) and MP4 (35Mbps) formats. It is also capable of native cinematic recording at 24p.

\nThe XA25 and XA20 both sport a 2.91 Megapixel HD CMOS image sensor, a Canon DIGIC DV4 image processor and a 20x HD Zoom lens with a 60cm MOD (minimum object distance) and an ENG-style “rocker” zoom control. It includes real-time optical image stabilization with five-axis vibration correction to help reduce picture shake, an 8-blade circular aperture for natural, smooth look for out-of-focus areas, and the unique\u00a0 EMD (Electro Magnetic Diaphragm) technology for high-precision control, delivering high-quality images.<\/p>\n

Designed for broadcast and professional use, both camcorders feature two phantom-powered XLR audio inputs with manual gain control, built-in IR emitter and diffuser for use in InfraRed shooting mode for extreme low-light conditions, a microphone holder, multipurpose accessory shoe. The XA25 also adds HD\/SD-SDI connector (BNC) to feed video directly to a microwave van, satellite uplink, or other TV transmission system. They both have a detachable handle.

The professional camcorders have dual SD\/SDXC slots for seamless relay recording for long periods, and a 3.5-inch OLED touch panel displays, and a 1.56 million-dot high-resolution adjustable-angle compact viewfinder. With dual-band WiFi support, users can download videos from the camcorders wirelessly to their PC or mobile devices. Remote control is also possible via a web browser or mobile device. By adding the optional Canon GP-E2 GPS receiver, you can record location and time information to your video.<\/p>\n

To be released in June, the XA25 and XA20 will be available for $2999 and $2499, respectively.<\/p>\n
