Following the new flagship Xperia Z\/ZL smartphone<\/a>, Sony Mobile also updates its tablet line with the introduction of the Xperia Tablet Z in Japan today. Instead of the off-center of gravity design on the Xperia Tablet S<\/a>, the new Z speaks the same design language as its smartphone cousin. Measuring just 6.9mm thick and weighing 495 grams, Sony’s new tablet is the thinnest and lightest Android tablet on the market and is even slimmer than the iPad mini.<\/p>\n

\nThe Xperia Tablet Z is powered by a quad-core Qualcomm APQ8064 1.5GHz processor and 2GB of RAM. It sports a 10.1-inch 1920×1200 Full HD Reality Display with Mobile Bravia Engine 2, and a 8.1 Megapixel camera with Exmor R sensor. The super slim Xperia pad includes support for NFC and LTE 4G connectivity, in addition to Bluetooth and WiFi. Complemeting the high resolution display is Sony’s S-Force virtual surround sound. The tablet is waterproof and dustproof also.<\/p>\n

Sony’s Tablet Z comes with 32GB of internal storage and supports microSD expansion. It runs Android 4.1 with Sony’s custom UI. Sony is going to release the tablet in Japan this Spring but does not mention about international release.<\/p>\n
