Yamagata Casio, part for Casio Computer Co. Ltd., introduces the Logosease, an underwater transceiver that allows scube drivers to have spoken conversation underwater. With a compact form factor measuring 89.0 x 41.0 x 44.8mm, the Logosease fit into a pocket and attach to the strap of a diving mask. It is also lightweight at just 107 grams.<\/p>\n

Using an ultrasound range of 32khz, wireless communication between users within visual range underwater is made possible and divers can converse normally with the scuba regulator in their mouths. The Logosease uses bone conduction on both microphone and speaker, and uses can switch between reception and transmission modes easily by lightly tapping the device once. Multiple divers can each wear a transceiver and have a group conversation. The small device is waterproof up to 55 meter (180 feet).<\/p>\n

Also, the Logosease modulates garbled underwater speech and transmits it, making it easier to hear using digital speech conversion technology. According to the company, the technology makes it easier to hear the “n”, “m”, “b” and “p” consonant sounds, which are difficult to pronounce when diving because the nose is blocked by the scuba mask and the air-supplying regulator is in the mouth.<\/p>\n

Yamagata Casio will show a prototype of the Logosease dive transceiver at the Diving Equipment and Marketing Association Show 2012 in Las Vegas, U.S.A., from November 14.<\/p>\n
