AT&T announced the launch of Samsung Galaxy Appeal, the first smartphone offered with the carrier’s pre-paid GoPhone service. The Appeal is a side-slider QWERTY smartphone running Android 2.3 Gingerbread. As an entry-level device, it is boosted by a Qualcomm MSM7225A 800MHz processor, 512MB RAM. According to Samsung, the handset’s plastic parts are made of 80-percent recycled material and it ships with reduced packaging material, cutting back on paper usage.

The Galaxy Appeal, the latest member of the Galaxy family<\/a>, sports a 3.2-inch 480×320 HVGA touchscreen, a 3 Megapixel camera with video recording and a QWERTY keyboard for easy text input. If the internal 1.8GB ROM is not enough, you can add up to 32GB of external memory using microSD card. It comes with a 1300mAh li-ion battery.<\/p>\n

The Samsung Galaxy Appeal QWERTY smartphone will be released on 16 July for $149.99 at Walmart and AT&T, with GoPhone plans.<\/p>\n
