Apple officially announced its latest flagship smartphone, the iPhone 5S. With the same design as the iPhone 5, the new 5S comes in the new champagne gold color alongside the Space Gray and Silver. The handset is more powerful and comes with the latest iOS 7.
Apple equipped the iPhone 5S with the new more powerful A7 chip with 64-bit architecture and the new M7 motion processor, which is designed specifically to measure motion data from accelerometer, gyroscope and compass. Another notable new feature is the new Touch ID fingerprint sensor that integrated into the home button. Putting your finger on it allows you to unlock and phone and approve purchases from iTunes Store, the App Store and the iBooks Store.
While the 4-inch IPS LCD display has the same 1136×640 Retina resolution, the camera has been upgraded with larger 8 Megapixel sensor for increased light sensitivity, True Tone flash with two LEDs, fast focus, and a lens with larger aperture. The camera is capable of 1080p Full HD video and there is a 1.2 Megapixel front-facing FaceTime camera.
Connectivity include Bluetooth 4.0 and 802.11a/b/g/n, GPS/AGPS/GLONASS. The 5S is available in five models to support different LTE bands, including a model supporting TD-LTE (Bands 38, 39, 40). Apple is going to release the handset on 20 September for $199 for 16GB, $299 for 32GB and $399 for 64GB, all with 2-year contract.
