Xplore, maker of rugged tablets, has announced its first rugged Android tablet, the RangerX. The lightweight 10.1-inch device is certified as being fully rugged with IP65 rating for waterproof and dustproof and MIL-STD 810G for survive in harsh conditions and environments. With a tough design, it is ideal for field service applications in industries such as energy, warehousing, logistics, transportation, military and public safety.
The RangerX is powered by a unnamed dual-core Cortex A9 processor and runs Android 4.0.4 operating system. The 10.1-inch IPS multitouch display has 1366×768 resolution. It has a 5 Megapixel camera on the back and a 1.2 Megapixel front camera. Other than GPS, Bluetooth 4.0 and WiFi 802.11n, the tablet also comes with integrated RFID and NFC capabilities that are ideal for applications in warehousing, logistics industries. Gigabit Ethernet and HDMI-In connections are optional and common access card (CAC) is also available as an option.
