Sony SmartWatch 2 gets NFC Connectivity and Water Resistance

Following last year’s SmartWatch, Sony tries again on wearable device introducing the SmartWatch 2 (SW2). Designed to be a second screen for Android smartphone, the little multifunctional watch is a notifier, Android app interface, a phone remote control and a activity tracker.

The sleek SmartWatch 2 has a 1.6-inch 220×176 sunlight readable display and it supports Bluetooth and Bluetooth 3.0 for pairing with smartphones running Android 4.0 or above. The watch gets an aluminum body and a stainless steel wristband and it is IP57-rated for water-resistant.

Once paired, you can use the SmartWatch to access notifications, handle calls, take photos remotely, check router on a map, read downloaded emails, track fitness activities and even control presentation remotely (using Presentation Pal). Of course, it also works as a standalone watch.

Sony will release the watch in September.
