Nikon adds to its NIKKOR lens line a new FX-format telephoto lens, the AF-S NIKKOR 80-400mm f/4.5-5.6G ED VR. With a 80-400mm focal length (5x zoom range), Nikon said the new lens is ideal for sports and natural photography. When used with DX-Format DSLRs, the lens will have a maximum focal length of 120-600mm.
The new NIKKOR 80-400mm lens is built with a new optical formula feautring 20 elements in 12 groups and one Super ED Glass Element and four ED glass. It features in-lens Vibration Reduction technology to compensate for camera shakes and is equipped with Silent Wave Motor (SWM) for smooth and silent auto focus. Nikon applied both anti-reflective anti-reflective and Super Integrated Coating to eliminate internal lens element reflections. Two focusing modes, M/A (AF with manual override) and M (manual), are provided.
Coming in early 2013, Nikon’s new AF-S NIKKOR 80-400mm f4.5-5.6G ED VR lens will be priced at $2699.95.
