Nikon introduces the new CoolPix P520 to replace last year’s P510. Like its predecessor, the new P520 is a ultra zoom digital camera. Featuring the same 42x zoom range, the new model does come with some new features and enhancements. It sports the same 42x optical zoom-NIKKOR glass lens with a 24-1000mm focal range, EXPEED C2 image processor, and gets a higher resolution 18.1 Megapixel BSI CMOS sensor.
The new P520 features lens-shift Vibration Reduction to reduce the effect of camera shake, delivering clear and blur-free images, and there is ACTIVE Mode to reduce image blur when users are shooting during walking or from a moving vehicle. The camera has a wider ISO range, 80-6400, than the P510 and includes Motion Detection to reduce motion blur.
The super zoom Coolpix is capable of 7fps high-speed continuous shooting and it records video at up to 1920×1080/30p Full HD resolution. It features built-in GPS chip for recording location data for each photos and video. Full P, S, A, M exposure modes are provided for advanced users and there are also scene auto selector and 19 optimized scene modes for causal users to take great photos easily. The camera has a 3.2-inch LCD vari-angle display and HDMI output connector. Using the optional WU-1a Wireless Mobile Adapter, users can transfer photos and videos to smartphones and tablets wirelessly.
The Coolpix P520 is will be available for $449.95 in black, red and dark grey in February.
