Safaricom Yolo is the first Intel-powered Smartphone in Africa

Safaricom, mobile network operator in Kenya, and Intel have partnered to introduce Africa’s first Intel Inside smartphone. Based on Intel’s latest smartphone platform for emerging markets, the Yolo is powered by an Atom Z2420 processor running at up to 1.2GHz clock speed, and also packs Intel XMM6265 modem for HSPA+ support. The phone runs Android 4.0 software.

The Yolo sports a 3.5-inch touchscreen display, which can be considered small in the Android smartphone market. It has a 5 Megapixel camera with 1080p Full HD video recording. You can also expect Bluetooth and WiFi.

The Yolo is available from Safaricom for Kshs. 10,999 (US$126) and with free 500 MB data.
