Following the Starck Desktop and Starck Mobile, LaCie again partners with the world-famous Philippe Starck to create uniquely designed external hard drives. Called Blade Runner, the latest creation represents the combination of human and machine, according to LaCie, featuring an anthropomorphic metal interior surrounded by an sharp, angular cage-like enclosure. On the front, you will see Philippe Starck’s signature cross symbol that is also an LED power button.
The limited edition designer hard drive has 4TB capacity and uses USB 3.0 SuperSpeed interface for a high speed data transfer. The aluminum casing not only look good, it also protects the Blade Runner and help dissipates heat for stable performance. The drive comes pre-loaded with LaCie Private/Public for password protect your files, and LaCie Backup Assistant for automatic data backup. When not in use, the Blade Runner will go into Eco mode automatically to save up to 75% power.
The LaCie Blade Runner is priced at $299.99. It is said that only 9,999 units will be produced and LaCie says that each unit is custom-built.
