As Sony’s latest flagship super phone, we can expect the Xperia Z will be available at a high-end price. To be released soon, the handset has been listed on Amazon’s UK, Germany and China sites for pre-order, giving us hints on the pricing.
The Xperia Z is priced at GBP 549.99 (US$871) at Amazon UK and is expected to ship on 1 March. In Germany, the phone asks for Euro 649 (US$866), and it costs just 4699 Chinese Yuan (US$756) in mainland China. For comparison purpose, Apple’s iPhone 5 is priced at GBP529 in the UK, Euro 679 in Germany and 5288 Yuan in China. As you can see, the price is accpetable and the price in China can be considered as a good deal.
To recap, the 5-inch Xperia Z is powered by a SnapDragon S4 Pro quad-core CPU with 2GB of RAM. Its 1080 Full HD Reality Display is powered by Mobile BRAVIA Engine 2 for high-quality image, and is protected by Dragontrail. It sports a 13 Megapixel camera with Exmor RS sensor, which is capable of HDR video recording and Full HD video, and a 2 Megapixel front-facing camera. It is IP55/57 rated for water and dust resistance, and is protected by Dragontrail glass front and back.
