Canon updates its VIXIA line of digital camcorder, introducing three new HF R-series Full HD models designed to capture and share every day moments easily. The new HF R42, HF R40 and HF R400, built for everyday shooting, delivers improved image quality, sharing capabilities and user experience. Three models share many their features but differ from each other in storage capacity and connectivity options.
Each of these new VIXIA camcorders sport a 3.28 Megapixel Full HD CMOS image sensor, a new DIGIC DV IV image processor and a 53x Advance Zoom Canon HD Video Lens to capture HD movies. They can record Full HD MP4 videos at 35Mbps and Full HD 28Mbps AVCHD Progressive 60p videos. A 3-inch capacitive touchscreen display provides intuitive control and lets you shoot and review HD movies easily. With SuperRange Optical Image Stabilization with Dynamic Image Stabilization, these camcorders can capture sharp and steady handheld video even at long focal lengths. There is also Intelligent IS that will automatically choose from four modes to optimize image stabilization for the shooting condition The Dual Recording function allows users to simultaneously record movies in MP4 and AVCHD formats.
All three new HF R-series models feature Remote Browse that allows users to preview and download files to a smartphone, tablet or PC using a web browser, without the need for a dedicated software or application. The R40 and R42 comes with built-in WiFi connectivity, allowing users to send and live-stream content to another device easily and wirelessly. Using the Movie Uploader app for iOS, you can send video directly to an iPhone, iPad, iPod touch for instant online sharing; and the CameraAccess app, available for both iOS and Android, lets users stream and record live video and control R40 and R42 directly from a smartphone or tablet with the ability to access the camcorder’s record, pause and zoom functions. With these mobile and live-streaming apps, Canon said that the R42 and R40 can be used as a baby monitor or security camera.
Canon’s HF R42 and R40 come with 32GB and 8GB internal storage respectively, all three models support SD/SDHC/SDXC memory cards. The VIXIA R42, R40 and R400 will be released in March for $499.99, $399.99 and $299.99, respectively.
