Chinese network equipment and mobile device maker ZTE may not be a big name in the smartphone market, but the firm has climbed to the forth position in smartphone shipment worldwide in Q3 2012. The Chinese company doesn’t stop there but makes further effort in the smartphone market, introducing at the CES 2013 the new Grand S, the thinnest 5-inch Full HD quad-core smartphone. Measuring just 6.9mm thin, ZTE’s new flagship managed to pack a Qualcomm SnapDragon S4 Pro 1.7GHz quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM and 16GB onboard storage. Like HTC’s J Butterfly/Droid DNA and Sony’s Xperia Z/ZL, the Grand S sports a 5-inch Full HD 1080p touchscreen display with 440ppi pixel density. It has a 13 Megapixel main camera with flash and a 2 Megapixel front-facing camera, both capable of 1080p Full HD video recording. It also includes Dolby Digital surround sound for enhanced entertainment experience. You can expect Bluetooth, WiFi and GPS support.
ZTE’s Grand S, like the Grand X, supports 4G LTE high-speed mobile network allowing top-speed download and HD movie streaming. The handset runs Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system. It will be released first in China in Q1 2013.
