Iomega announced two new network attached storage systems, the 2-bay StorCenter px2-300d and the 4-bay StorCenter ix4-300d. Both models are designed to deliver fast storage, data protection and cloud connectivity for small-to-mid-sized businesses and distributed enterprise locations. They connect to your network via Gigabit Ethernet and allows users to share and access files locally and remotely.
The px2-300d is powered by Intel’s dual-core Atom D525 processor with 2GB RAM, while the 4-bay ix4-300d boasts Marvel Armada XP 1.3GHz dual-core CPU and 512MB RAM. They come with built-in cloud technology with choice of EMC Atmos cloud connector, EMC Avamar data deduplication (StorCenter px2-300d models only), Mozy Pro, Amazon S3 and Iomega Personal Cloud technology. Both systems are also compatible with virtualization environments such as VMware, Microsoft Windows Server (Hyper-V) and Citrix XenServer, and include advanced video surveillance storage and monitoring capabilities. The new StorCenter systems also come with built-in DLNA server for media streaming, and have one USB 3.0 and two USB 2.0 ports for adding additional external hard drives.
The StorCenter px2-300d also packs McAfee VirusScan Enterprise for automatic antivirus scanning and cleaning. It also allows users to encrypt volumes for further data protection and security. The 2-bay system even has VGA port for local display with MindTree SecureMind VMS. Both models are compatible with Time Machine for data protect for Mac users, and PC users can use the included Iomega QuikProtect.
Iomega’s px2-300d supports up to 6TB of storage capacity. It is available without disk for $499.99 or with 2TB for $699.99, 4TB for $999 or 6TB for $1199.99. The ix4-300d diskless model costs $599.99, and the 4TB model is priced at $749.99, 8TB at $949.99 and 12TB at $1299.99.
