Panasonic updates its Toughbook line the new SX2 portable business-rugged notebook PC for today’s road warriors. With a magnesium alloy case, the 3.1 lbs lightweight SX2 is built to withstand highly mobile work environment. It can handle a 30-inch drop to base while on/off and a 12-inch drop on all other faces when off; and its lid and base are designed to withstand more than 220 lbs (100 kgf) of pressure. Panasonic said that the new SX2 is 33% slimmer than previous business-rugged model.
The Touchbook SX2 is powered by Intel’s Ivy Bridge Core i5-3320M Turbo Boost processor and 4GB of RAM. Other than the 320GB 5400RPM hard drive, the slim notebook also managed to pack a DVD SuperMulti drive. It comes with a 12.1-inch LED-backlit HD+ display, a 720p HD webcam with built-in microphone, two USB 3.0 ports and a SD/SDHC/SDXC memory card slot. You can also find Bluetooth and WiFi connectivity and VGA and HDMI video outputs. The rugged notebook provides long battery life of up to 14.5 hours of continuous use.
The Panasonic Toughbook SX2 will be available later this month starting at $2649.
