Samsung announced the new Galaxy S III Mini, the compact version of the company’s flagship Galaxy S III smartphone. Featuring the same design as the original high-end S III, the Mini version is not a smaller-sized flagship, but just a mid-range phone. The handset gets a smaller 4-inch Super AMOLED touchscreen display. It is powered by a 1GHz dual-core processor with 1GB of RAM.
The Galaxy S III Mini features a 5 Megapixel auto focus camera with LED flash and 720p HD video recording and a VGA front-facing camera. The phone includes support for GPS, Bluetooth 4.0, WiFi 802.11b/g/n as well as NFC. Like the Galaxy S III, the Mini features Smart Stay that makes use of the phone’s camera to track user’s eyes and keeps the screen on as long as the user is looking at it; Direct Call that will automatically dial a call simply by lifting the phone to ear; Smart Alert that alerts you to missed calls or messages as soon as you pick up your phone.; and S Voice.
The Galaxy S III Mini runs Android Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system with TouchWiz. It comes in 8GB and 16GB models and supports microSD/SDHC up to 32GB.
