ViewSonic is launching in the US its VSD220 Smart Display running Android operating system. First shown at the Computex 2012 as VCD220, the Smart Display is a 22-inch Full HD LED touchscreen monitor powered by a TI OMAP dual-core 1GHz processor and 1GB RAM. It runs Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system and comes with 8GB internal storage.
With Android, the VSD220 is like a oversized tablet for you to browse the web, watch videos. You can also dwonload applications from ViewSonic’s own AppZone store and Google Play store. The display supports optical dual touch technology for intuitive operation. It supports Bluetooth 2.1, Ethernet LAN and WiFi 802.11b/g/n connectivity, and comes equipped with 1.3 Megapixel HD webcam and 1.5Wx2 stereo speakers with SRS 3D Surround sound. Thanks to micro HDMI jack, you can also use the Smart Display as monitor for your computer.
The ViewSonic VSD220 will be released in mid-to-late October for $399.
