Synology ships its new DiskStation DS413j 4-bay network attached storage server for home and small office that need an affordable yet advanced network storage solution. With four drive bays for 3.5-inch and 2.5-inch SATA II hard drives, the server supports up to 16TB of storage capacity and Synology Hybrid RAID, Basic, JBOD, RAID 0, RAID 1, RAID 5, RAID 5+Spare, RAID 6, RAID 10 RAID types. It packs a 1.6Ghz processor and a 512MB of DDR3 memory to boost multitasking performance.
The DS413j uses Synology’s new DiskStation Manager 4.1 operating system. It includes a Web Assistant that guides users to complete the system installation in a few clicks, and QuickConnect that allows users to easily extend the coverage of DS413j to the Internet without router configuration. The budget-friendly NAS has one Gigabit Ethernet LAN port and two USB ports for connecting external hard drives or printers for sharing over the network. It comes with built-in media server for media content streaming and supports DLNA/UPnP, and has Download Station to handle BT, FTP, HTTP, eMule, and NZB download jobs without a PC.
Of course, youc can use the DiskStation DS413j for backup. Windows PC users can use the free Synology Data Replicator software, while Mac users can simply use Apple Time Machine. The server is energy efficient, consuming only 31.56 watts and 7.68 watts during full operation and HDD hibernation respectively.
