Update: The Lumia 820 will come with a standard shell in the box. If you want to use wireless charging, you have to get the Wireless Charging Shell for the Lumia 820. The shell is made from PC/ABS and comes in five matte colors, red, yellow, white, cyan and black.
Nokia officially announced the Lumia 820 mid-range smartphone running the Windows Phone 8 operating system. The handset has a uninody look and feel and and features an exchangeable shell design. The shell not only adds colors to the stylish Lumia 820 but also handles Qi wireless charging that allows for cable-free charging on a Qi-compatible charging pad. Compare to its predecessor Lumia 800, the phone is more powerful with a Qualcomm SnapDragon S4 1.5GHz dual-core processor and 1GB of RAM.
The Lumia 820 features a 4.3-inch ClearBlack OLED 800×480 touchscreen with Super Sensitive Touch that allows for golve-on touch, Nokia ClearBlack with high brightness mode and Sunlight Readability Enhancements. The 8 Megapixel auto focus camera gets Carl Zeiss optics and dual LED flash and is capable of Full HD 1080p video recording at 30fps. There is also a VGA front-facing camera for video chat. The WP8 smartphone comes with 8GB internal storage and supports microSD/SDHC cards.
Running Windows 8, the Lumia 820 comes with Internet Explorer 10 for faster browsing and Microsoft Office apps. It also includes Nokia City Lens, a new way to explorer surroundings through augmented reality. It will be available in pentaband LTE and HSPA+ variants and will be shipped later this year. You can get the Lumia 820 in red, yellow, grey, cyan, purple, white and black colors.
