Drobo refreshes its B1200i SSD storage sytem, that promises to deliver 300x performance over previous versions of the product. This is achieved by Drobo’s automated data tiering software and hybrid use of solid state technology and traditional hard drives. It can automatically utilize a small number of SSDs alongside hard disk drives to deliver best of both – the capacity of hard drives and the performance of SSD.
The B1200i has 12 drive bays for hard drives or SSDs and supports SAS-1/2 and SATA II/III drives. It supports iSCSI protocol and has three 1000Mbps Ethernet port for data and one 1000Mbps Ethernet port for management. It has attained VMWare Ready status with vSphere 5.0 certification. Not only does it work in Microsoft, VMware, Citrix environment, the system can also be used in data protection solutions supporting Veeam, Acronis and Symantec backup and replication. It also supports cloud backup with Amazon Web Services and others.
